Wiltshire Council : Storm Éowyn update

Wiltshire Council - Storm Advice Logo.jpg

Storm Éowyn is expected to bring strong winds and rain to Wiltshire over the next few days and into the weekend and next week. There is currently a yellow warning of wind in Wiltshire in place today (Thursday) and tomorrow (Friday), a yellow warning of both wind and rain for Sunday, and a yellow warning of rain on Monday, though this may change.

We are encouraging people to ensure they have secured all loose items in their gardens, particularly trampolines. Please also remind your communities to keep an eye on the Government’s flood alerts and warnings webpage for the latest information. They can also sign up for flood warnings and find out about what to do when warnings/alerts in place.

Anyone planning to travel should allow extra time for their journeys, drive carefully and be aware of any debris or surface water on Wiltshire’s roads. People should not attempt to drive through any floodwater.

Our teams of tree surgeons and highways engineers are on standby to deal with any reports of flooding or trees down, and as usual, people should report any issues at www.wiltshire.gov.uk/MyWilts.

Anyone planning to use public transport over the next few days and over the weekend should check with their transport provider before they travel, as their services may be affected. Anyone who experiences a power cut should call 105.

Waste collection crews are currently working as normal and our household recycling centres are scheduled to open as usual, though this may change if the weather worsens.

We will post any weather updates on our Facebook page as appropriate.
